Shared space should be vital to the design of the street. This should go some way to alleviate the need for designated road markings in favour of street textures and patterning to delineate different areas. The unconventional layout and lack of distinction in the street would in turn slow the traffic down on Oxpens Road. Through slowing down traffic on these roads a precedent for a more bicycle and pedestrian friendly zone will be established.
